THE FOURTH CONSTELLATION

AND STARHOUSE - LEO

The term “seeing the Sun at midnight” resonates throughout the ancient mysteries as the profoundest spiritual experience of the Sun while man is embodied upon the Earth. That the "Deep Heaven" or point of innermost self-awareness should be governed by the spiritual Sun seems entirely appropriate.

The Sun, as the root of man’s being, has the value of the principle of Osiris or Spirit Man, the highest principle of mankind’s being during this "Cosmic Creation".

If the third starhouse determines the Native’s first experience of terrestrial home, i.e., the womb, then the fourth starhouse of Leo determines the experience of the spiritual home of the Native. As a consequence of this, benefic planets and/or aspects in or to the fourth starhouse will indicate much about the spiritual or moral quality of the native.

The fourth starhouse reveals the Native’s primal capacity to meet life as a temporal being, i.e., one who experiences the self as a Native of both Time and Eternity. Time is of the essence and the essence of man’s being is Osiris / Solar Spirit Man.

If, as the ancient aphorism has it, “Osiris, like sunlight, shines on all”, then we can perceive how Leo has the meaning of philosophical Sensualism. In this case, Sensualism means the capacity and willingness to live in all twelve senses as enumerated here. Thus, Leo is the sense for life in the widest scope to which the native can aspire.

That ancient zodiac have attributed “father” to the fourth starhouse is easily understood when we realize that Osiris or Spirit Man has always been called the “Father in heaven” down through the ages. Esoteric star wisdom has preserved the knowledge of the threefold Sun in the symbol of the upright Triangle with a right eye or point in the middle, which is also the symbol of the fully realized higher self, or initiate. Through this knowledge of the threefold Sun it is possible to arise into the direct experience of individual being as body / soul / spirit in their unity. The point in the centre of the upright triangle is the point of “self-awareness being present”, i.e., the “I” or centre of the individual’s Spirit Self or character. Truly it is stated: “Character is destiny”.

The fourth starhouse, therefore, reveals the character’s quality as a being of “love / freedom / wisdom”. The preservation of sun sign astrology down through the ages, as a caricature of the above teaching will seem obvious to any serious student of star wisdom.

The Earth relationship with the Sun determines the measure of time. The Earth / Sun relationship to the constellations of stars has always been measured by the precession of the VERNAL POINT. For the whole of humanity on Earth and in the spiritual worlds, the Sun is Time.

THE SUN much like the Moon, draws and focuses attention upon you, but it brings more emphasis to your all-around individuality, your own "personhood" and productivity, your basic values and ethics. It might precipitate questions from others such as: "What are your abilities, talents, potentials?" People will want to know just where you are headed and how you plan to get there. You can increase your status in the world by bringing others to review your current or past accomplishments. You too will be reviewing your status, becoming more aware of how you really appear in the eyes of those in a position to influence your affairs. In general, a feeling of increased importance, and a greater sense of purpose may be experienced. This can indicate possible glories or potential successes if supported by other transits such as an angular Jupiter. The Sun dominates elements of pride and ego gratification, the need for recognition, & the fires of ambition, fame, fortune or importance in the world. If self-esteem is low, the Sun generally revives it, as your appreciation of yourself and the good qualities you possess become important.   Because you are now centered in your own purposes, you can come over now as the "boss" or the master of current situations or circumstances. You tend to impress people in general, and thus your Self respect and self regard is reaffirmed and uplifted.  The transit of New or Full Moon over the Sun can overstress the physical or emotional system, sometimes indicating a drop in overall vitality for the duration of the transit. This can be aggravated by a tendency to concentrate energy on personal matters meant to gratify your ego. But a basic self-interest manifests concerning you potential, what satisfies you and what does not. This can make you feel you are a power to be reckoned with, to be placated--a bit of a potentate in your own field of interest.
